Christy King Mack, P’99, ‘01

Christy Mack is president of the Christy and John Mack Foundation and co-founder and president of the Bravewell Collaborative, a group of philanthropists based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who leverage their experiences and resources to promote integrative medicine.

A Reiki master, Christy has funded three highly successful Reiki programs at the Morgan Stanley Babies and Children’s Hospital in pediatric oncology and the neonatal intensive care unit.

In 2003 the Christy and John Mack Foundation made a $12 million gift to Duke Medicine to build a new facility dedicated to the emerging field of integrative medicine. Duke Integrative Medicine opened its doors in 2006, and faculty physicians and staff began seeing patients in 2007.  The Macks have also generously supported need-based scholarships at Duke University, the Duke University Football Program, the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership, student residential life enhancements, the Duke University Annual Fund, and the Fuqua School of Business.

Christy is a 1971 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is a lifetime member of the UNC General Alumni Association. She is married to John J. Mack, T’68, chairman and CEO at Morgan Stanley, an investment brokerage firm in New York City. They have three adult children, two of whom are Duke University graduates. Christy is a former member of the Trinity College Board of Visitors. John is a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees and the steering committee of the Fuqua School of Business. He also was a member of the steering committee for the successful $2 billion Campaign for Duke, which ended in 2003.
