John D. Karcher, P’87, ‘90

Jack Karcher is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of PL Industries, LLC, one of the largest private-label jeans apparel manufacturers in the western hemisphere. He is also chairman and CEO of PL Sports, LLC, a new company that obtained the NFL license to produce and market jeans with NFL teams, and is chairman and CEO of Landorne Holdings Corporation. Before founding PL Industries he held top management positions in the textile and apparel industries, including serving as president of both Wamsutta Decorative Fabrics and Baxter/Kelly, Inc.

Early in his career he was a semi-professional baseball pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Jack has served on the boards of the Ox Ridge Hunt Club and Ox Ridge School, both in Darien, Connecticut, and has coached hockey, basketball, and Little League and Pony League baseball teams, a number of which were named town, state, or regional champions. He has been honored with the Coach of the Year Award for his contributions to baseball in Darien.

Jack graduated from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is married to Lois Lynch Karcher, a senior partner of counsel at multi-state law firm Cummings and Lockwood, and they have three children and four grandchildren. The Karchers live in Darien.
